Truth vs. Grace

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
— John 1:14

This three-minute video from Andy Stanley has some truth that we too easily take for granted. We all understand truth. We all understand grace. But most of us do a mediocre job of managing the tension between the two. We're all tempted to lean in one direction or the other, even though Jesus demonstrated a full measure of both.

So, take a few minutes to watch the video. Spend some time this week reading on the first chapter of John's gospel. And reflect on these questions:

  1. Do I tend to emphasize truth or grace?

  2. How does that influence the quality of my leadership, for good and bad?

  3. What is one thing I can do to dial up the area in which I'm weak?
